The Beacon, UP's weekly student newspaper, is owned and published by the University of Portland, which delegates editorial responsibility to student editors. The Beacon provides a forum within which students, staff and faculty members engage in free and responsible public dialogue on a wide variety of public issues, as well as campus-related topics.
We publish our print edition every Thursday during the academic year except during vacation breaks, finals weeks and the week prior to finals.

Positions for The Beacon's editorial and business/advertising staff are open to all full-time undergraduate and graduate students. Hiring generally occurs during spring semester, although openings may also surface during fall semester.
